MMA Architecture is a design-focused practice offering a personal client friendly service. Our policy is to promote innovative and energy efficient architectural design to all clients. A deserved reputation in quality architecture and personal service has allowed the practice to grow since its foundation in 2007.

Our philosophy is to tailor designs to the individual needs of our clients. In every project we undertake, we draw on over 20 years of diverse experience in planning and construction to maximise the unique potential that a site has to offer. The practice consistently strives to exceed current buildings standards in construction and in particular energy efficiency and construction stage inspections.

Our Practice

The practice also offers a range of engineering consultancy services ranging from EPA Site Suitability Assessments and electronic surveys, to mapping and legal reports.

MMA Architecture are a progressive practice, and are at the forefront of BIM (Building Information Modelling) in Ireland having implemented Revit Architecture software in our office since 2007. The practice is continuously evolving to meet the changing needs of construction in order to ensure the best service possible for our clients.

Mel McGerr

Dip. Arch. Tech. Bsc. Arch. Tech. Msc. Design Management

After graduating in 2002 from the Limerick Institute of Technology, Mel spent three years in Limerick with Neil Bennett Associates, Architects, becoming an Associate in 2004. During this period, Mel gained invaluable experience in delivering bespoke housing and commercial projects, from inception to completion. On his return to Athlone, Mel worked as a Senior Architectural Technologist at Heavey Architects, focusing on the technical design and project management of large residential and commercial developments. Mel has recently successfully completed a Masters study in Design Management and has been using these skills to develop and implement Building Information Modeling within MMA. This has led to Mel being invited to speak at a BIM seminar to both students and fellow professionals at the Galway Mayo Institute of Technology and the Dundalk Institute of Technology. A Certified Revit Architecture Professional, Mel has also successfully completed courses in Managing the Health and Safety in Construction Design.

Patrick Murphy
